On April 26, 2009, I represented Team Rostello presented by Fiorucci in the National Duathlon Road Championships held in Richmond, Virginia. This was a qualifier venue for the world championships. The distances were 10K Run, 38K Bike, and 5K Run.

For an April the day, it started hot and got hot-hot-hot, 90 degrees. I was very impressed with my 60 – 64 age group field of 44 competitors from around the US. There were only 4 of us from Virginia. I finished 14th and was quite pleased when I saw that last years age group winner was 3 minutes faster this year and finished 5th.

On May 8, 2009, I competed in the Virginia Senior Games – Cycling Events that were held at Byrd Park in Richmond, Virginia. I placed SECOND in the 5K Time Trial, in my age group. I also placed SECOND in the 20K Circuit Race, in my age group.

P.S. Although they did not compete for us as they competed for our sponsor, Endorphin Fitness, Claudio Colmignoli’s (our title sponsor) sons, Stefi and Andy won the national champioships in their age groups. Felix Garcia’s son, Luke, placed 12th after dropping a chain and waiting for assistance for over 7 minutes.
